Job Description
Working for a large scale nursery you will be responsible for working as part of a team and also under your own initiative moving stock that is stored in large boxes around the site.
This role does involve working inside and outside, but mainly outside.
Successful applicants will be offered an opportunity to train in other areas of the business during quieter times of the year.
Overview
We are seeking a reliable and skilled FLT Counterbalance driver to join our team on a rough terrain counterbalance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods and materials safely and efficiently around site. This role requires a strong understanding of stock handling and moving operations, including shipping and receiving, as well as the ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary.
Duties
- Moving saplings and seeds in boxes to locations across the site
- Load and unload materials, ensuring proper handling techniques are followed.
- Perform basic maths calculations for inventory management and shipping documentation.
- Assist in warehouse operations as and where needed.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and inventory levels using a warehouse management system. (paperbased)
- Conduct routine inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies during transportation and warehouse activities.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Driver or in a similar role within a warehouse environment is preferred.
- Basic maths skills for inventory management and documentation purposes.
- Familiarity with forklift operation is advantageous.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required by the job duties.
- Experience with shipping, receiving, and materials handling processes is beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety practices.
- We cannot accept in-house licences. All applicants must have an in date licence with certificate
- Please note - due to location of the site you will need access to your own transport
Hours and Pay
- Monday to Friday 07:45-16:30 (occasional overtime is available at time and a half and double time).
- Pay rate starts at £13.39.
