Job Description
The role of being an on-glaze hand bander and gilder is the art applying precise decorative lines and metallic finishes to ceramics after they have been glazed and fired. Banding wheels provide a smooth, manual rotation that allows artists to paint consistent stripes or apply liquid gold while the piece spins
Responsibilities
- Apply banding and guilds to ceramic pieces with accuracy and consistency, ensuring adherence to specified standards.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment safely and effectively during the glazing process.
- preparing items for subsequent firing or finishing stages.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations, ensuring all tools are properly stored after use.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
- Conduct quality checks on glazed items, identifying any defects or inconsistencies for correction.
- Follow health and safety protocols at all times, including proper handling of materials and equipment.
Experience
- Previous hand banding and guiding experience is essential. This is not a trainee role.
- Experience with hand tools and power tools used in assembly or finishing tasks is desirable.
- Familiarity with assembly processes within a production environment will be beneficial.

Hours of work - Monday to Friday. Day shift. 39 hrs. We can offer some flexibility with working hours if necessary.
