Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for a Workshop Manager with a technical background to oversee daily operations within a small machine shop specialising in CNC turning and milling. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing production processes, ensuring efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery, while also possessing hands-on programming capability for CNC machines. Knowledge/basic understanding of Tig welding processes would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organise, and manage day-to-day production activities within the machine shop
  • Supervise and support a small team of skilled machinists
  • Work with team to optimise CNC turning and milling operations.
  • Ensure production targets, quality standards, and delivery deadlines are consistently met
  • Interpret engineering drawings and ensure accurate manufacturing processes • Monitor workflow, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements coordinating with engineering
  • Maintain health & safety standards and ensuring compliance
  • Manage tooling requirements and machine maintenance schedules
  • Train and develop team members to improve skill levels and performance
  • Manage calibration of measuring equipment

Hours of work (exclusive of lunch break of 30 minutes) are as follows:

  • Monday – Thursday Core hours are 08:30 to 3:30 (30 minutes lunch), with a flexible start of 06:30 and finish of 17:30
  • Friday core hours are 08:30 to 12:30 (no dinner break), with a flexible start of 06:30 and finish of 14:00 By finishing at 12:30 on a Friday you will need to utilize the flexible start and finish times throughout the week to make up the total hours required in-line with your contract of employment.
  • Your contracted hours consist of a 39-hour working week. Your specific hours of work and details of meal breaks will be as defined by your manager in accordance with operational requirements.
  • Employees are expected to be co-operative in working outside their normal hours, as necessary, to cope with varying situations and workloads.

If successful you will be employed under a temp to perm contract. You will serve a 12 week probation whilst employed by Blink Recruitment. During this probation you will be monitored on timekeeping and attendance along with work ethic and ability to work well as part of a team. Once you have successfully completed the 12 weeks you will be transferred over a as a permanent employee.

The roles will also involve additional duties around site associated to the manufacturing and installation processes.

Blink Recruitment operate a full in house PAYE payroll. We do not use the services of Umbrella payroll schemes. All workers accrue holiday pay per hour worked. Paid Weekly with a week in arrears.
